EC Softball Squad Drops Region Opener to LSU-Eunice
 May 10, 2013

East Central Community College’s softball squad began first-round action of the Region 23 Tournament with a 6-1 setback to LSU-Eunice Thursday, May 9 in the double-elimination tournament being held at Traceway Park in Clinton.

Dakota Vowell homered in the second inning for EC’s only run. The Neshoba Central High School product also contributed a single.

Also collecting multiple hits were Ty Buckley of Neshoba Central, triple and single; and Morgan Porter of Enterprise, double and single. AJ Peeler of Neshoba Central and LaJoya Griffin of Philadelphia had singles each.

Mary Sanders took the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits. She fanned three batters and walked three. Sanders is a product of Adams County Christian School.

The Lady Diamond Warriors (31-16) were set to battle Jones County this morning in an elimination game but the contest is being rescheduled due to inclement weather. An announcement will be made later today regarding game times. MS Gulf Coast, Pearl River and Itawamba complete the six-team field.

EC’ softball program is led by head coach Kristin Chaney and assistant Courtney Nunn.
