BOONEVILLE, Miss. –  Northeast Mississippi Community College pitchers Bianca Chagolla and Erin Dixson pitched 12 straight innings of no-hit ball to help the Lady Tigers sweep Dyersburg State (Tenn.) Community College on Wednesday, April 10.

In front of her father and stepmother for the first time as a collegiate athlete, Chagolla carried a perfect game through six innings against Dyersburg State before giving up an Ashley Nichols’ single to center during the first at bat of the seventh.

Chagolla made the Lady Eagles pay for breaking up her perfect game bid in the home half of the frame as the Riverside, California native helped Northeast complete the sweep of Dyersburg State with a walk-off single with two outs in the seventh 2-1.

Earlier in the day, Dixson set the stage for the sweep by tossing a complete game two-hitter in a 5-0 shutout. After giving up a pair of singles in the first inning, Dixson closed the contest with six straight innings without allowing a hit.

Chagolla used just 80 pitches to get through the first six innings against the Lady Eagles and only went to a full count once in her complete game.

Dyersburg State (7-23) finally got to Chagolla in the final inning of regulation as the Lady Eagles pieced together a three-hit frame to knot the game at 1-all when Nichols scored on a Stephanie Murphy single to center with two down in the frame.

However, Chagolla did not let the run phase the Northeast freshman and got Natalie Denton to line out to short to end the threat.

Chagolla made sure the Lady Eagles paid for breaking up her perfect game.

After Erin Frazier drew a leadoff walk to start the inning and Gracie Michael followed three batters later with a two-out walk, Chagolla sent a hard ground ball to short that bounced through the back of the infield and allowed Frazier to score from second for the win.

Earlier in the game, Andrea Cutts gave the host a 1-0 advantage in the first when the Ackerman native scrambled home on a passed ball with two down in the inning.

In the opener, Dixson pitched her way to her tenth win the year and provided all the run support she would need in the opening frame.

After a Haleigh Moffett sacrifice fly scored Chagolla, Dixson followed with a home run to center that tallied Cutts and herself for a 3-0 lead. Dixson's home run was her sixth on the year and place the Lady Tiger sophomore in a tie for thirty-third nationally in the category.

Northeast’s three-run cushion was all the New York native needed as Dixson struck out six and limited the Lady Eagles to just two hits – both coming in the opening inning.

Dixson faced just three batters over the minimum (24) in her seven innings of work and tossed 76 pitches – 52 for strikes and got the Lady Eagles to groundout 11 times in the affair.

On the day, Dixson and Chagolla combined to strike out 14 – Dixson six and Chagolla eight – while limiting Dyersburg State to just five hits and surrendered just one walk in 14 innings of work.

After having its North Division doubleheader with Northwest Mississippi Community College postponed due to inclement weather on Thursday, April 11, Northeast will step back into North Division play on Saturday, April 13 as the Lady Tigers travel to Moorhead to take on the Lady Trojans of Mississippi Delta Community College. First pitch is set for noon.
