Bobcat netters rout Hinds
 April 10, 2013

RAYMOND – The Jones County Junior College tennis teams blanked Hinds Community College 9-0 here Monday afternoon.

The Lady Bobcats are now 10-2 on the season, while the men’s team is 6-6. The Bobcats travel to East Central on Tuesday.

The Hinds teams are both 4-7 and go to Co-Lin on Tuesday.

Lady Bobcats 9, Lady Eagles 0

In No. 1 doubles, Alicia Domoney and Stephanie Smith beat Maria Castrillo and Latoya Whitley, 8-2. Brenda Hegwood and Elizabeth Wright won No. 2 doubles over Ammissa Johnson and Octavia Pendleton, 8-1. JCJC won No. 3 doubles by default.

Domoney whipped Castrillo, 6-1, 6-0, in No. 1 singles, Smith downed Whitley, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 2 singles and Hegwood beat Johnson, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 3 singles. Aja White blanked Pendleton, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 4 singles and Wright defeated Ashley Nowell, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 5 singles. JCJC won No. 6 singles by default.

Bobcats 9, Eagles 0

Josh Lomas and Tanner Chamblee edged Devonte Thomas and Chris Harper, 9-8 (6), in No. 1 doubles. Ryan Young and Harrison Thomas beat Esmond Fountain and Stuart English, 8-2, in No. 2 doubles. The Bobcats won No. 3 doubles by default.

Lomas beat Thomas, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 1 singles, Chamblee downed Fountain, 6-3, 6-1, in No. 2 singles, Young beat Harper, 6-2, 7-5, in No. 3 singles and Caleb Byrd blanked English, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 4 singles. JCJC won No.’s 5 and 6 singles by default.
