No. 4 Lady Bobcats split games vs. Pearl RiverApril 9, 2013

ELLISVILLE – Samantha Buller threw a two-hitter to lead the 4th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats to an 8-0, 5-inning decision over Pearl River Community College here Tuesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader at Community Bank Park.
In game two, the Lady Wildcats edged JCJC, 6-5 in 10 innings.
JCJC is now 27-5 overall and 10-4 in the MACJC South Division. Pearl River is 19-14 overall, 8-6 in the league.
The Bobcats resume division play with a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader at home vs. Southwest Mississippi. The games will air on www.jcjc.tv with Shawn Wansley on the call.
Pearl River hosts Co-Lin on Saturday.
Lady Bobcats 8, Lady Wildcats 0
Buller improved to 15-2 as she fanned four and walked one.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Rebecca Dunn singled with one out and stole second. She went to third on a ground out and scored on an illegal pitch.
The Lady Bobcats made it 3-0 in the third with a two-out rally. Bethany Volking doubled and Karley Crosby followed with a single. Makenzie Hawkins and Brooke David then followed with run-scoring singles.
JCJC took a 4-0 lead in the fourth. Reagan Gavin led off with a single and Kalyn McNabb followed with a sacrifice. Relanda McFarland reached on an error, which allowed pinch-runner Keni May to score.
The Lady Bobcats ended the game via the ‘mercy rule’ with a four-run, fifth inning.
Hawkins and David each reached on infield singles and Dunn followed with an RBI single. Gavin then delivered a two-run double and McNabb reached on a bunt single.
CC Lawn’s RBI single scored McNabb with the clinching run.
Gavin doubled and singled for JCJC, while Hawkins, David and Dunn had two singles each. Volking had a double, while Lawn, McFarland, Crosby and McNabb had singles.
Megan Scronce and Shannon Brown each singled for PRCC.
Neely McCrary started and took the loss. She went 3 2/3 innings, giving up three runs, six hits, two walks and one strikeout. Courtney Warr pitched the final 2/3 of an inning, allowed five runs, six hits and struck out one.

JCJC hurt themselves with four errors, while Pearl River played errorless softball.
The Lady Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Lawn singled and McFarland reached on a bunt single. Volking and Crosby followed with RBI groundouts.
It stayed that way until the fifth when PRCC tied it up at 2-2.
Brown reached on an error to start the inning and Whitney Waits and Scronce followed with bunt singles to load the bases. Emily Jackson delivered an RBI single and Heather Boutwell’s sacrifice fly to center scored Scronce.
JCJC came back with a run in the bottom of the fifth when Dunn had a one-out double to right-center and scored on a single by Angela Land to make it 3-2.
The Lady Wildcats tied it in the top of the seventh.
Scronce led off with a double to right-center and was sacrificed to third by Jackson. Kelsea Lewis’ grounder was booted, allowing Scronce to score.
PRCC took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth. Becky Mitchell was on second to start the inning and scored on Brown’s two-out double.
The Lady Bobcats tied it at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth when Dunn was on second to start the inning and was sacrificed to third by Land. Alex Barrett’s groundout scored Dunn.
After a scoreless ninth, PRCC took a 6-4 lead in the top of the 10th.
Allie Flynt was on second to start the inning and Boutwell followed with a single to put runners and first and third. A sacrifice fly by Warr made it 5-4. With two outs, Kaci Lantrip doubled into the leftfield corner to score Boutwell.
In the bottom of the 10th, Crosby was on base to start the inning. Hawkins drew a walk and David drilled an RBI single to put runners on first and second with no outs. Dunn sacrificed the runners, but PRCC pitcher Brittany LeBlanc then got a strikeout of Land for the second out of the inning.
Barrett then hit a hard grounder to Boutwell at first. She knocked the ball down, picked it up and stepped on first to end the game.
McFarland had two singles for JCJC, while Dunn doubled. Lawn, David and Land added singles.
Michele Hester, 10-3, went the distance and took the loss. She gave up nine hits, walked three and struck out two.
LeBlanc went the distance and recorded the win. She allowed six hits, walked three and struck out two.
Scronce doubled and singled for PRCC, while Jackson had two singles. Lantrip and Brown had doubles, while Waits, Boutwell and Warr added singles.
