ECCC Netters Split Decisions with Holmes

East Central Community College’s tennis team split decision with Holmes Community College matches held Monday, April 8 on the Decatur campus.

The Lady Warriors were victorious by a 9-0 margin with most of the wins resulting from forfeits. The Warriors were edged 5-4.

In women’s competition, Newton County High School products Kelsey Tadlock and Haley Chapman combined talents to defeat Haley Harrison and Akia Cabella 8-0 in the only doubles match played. Alana Turner of Florence and Amber Pierce of Leake Academy, and Nan Hartness and Hayden Fryery, both of Winston Academy, won their matches via forfeit. In the only singles match played, Tadlock defeated Harrison 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Chapman, Turner, Pierce, Hartness and Fryery won their scheduled matchups via forfeit.

Andrew Hanna of Newton County Academy teamed with doubles partner Hunter Mayo of Leake Academy to defeat Rami Jamileh and Connor Wilson of Holmes 9-8 (7-5). EC was clipped in the other doubles matchups, as Blake Cochran of Newton County and Chris Mays of Louisville fell 8-2 to Darryl Hale, Jr. and Will Godfrey, and Brandon St. Clair of Newton County and Josh Peoples of Leake Academy were defeated 8-4 by Grey Tedford and Mitchell Parman.

In men’s singles, Hanna defeated Jamileh, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3); St. Clair beat Godfrey, 6-3, 6-1; and Mayo clipped Parman, 6-3, 6-3. In other results, Cochran fell to Hale, 6-1, 6-0; Mays fell to Wilson, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8; and Peoples lost to Tedford, 6-4, 6-0.
