EC Golf Team Places Third in Hinds Event
March 4, 2013Sawyer Williams fired rounds of 79 and 74 for a nine-over par 153 during less-than-ideal weather conditions Saturday and Sunday to help lead East Central Community College’s golf team to a third-place finish in the MACJC Event #2 hosted by Hinds Community College and held at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Raymond. The Warrior linksters carded a 635 (314-321) in the 36-hole event, held during unusually cold temperatures and won by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s 625 (321-304) total. Copiah-Lincoln finished second at 630 (313-317). East Mississippi placed fourth at 637 (320-317), followed by Northwest Mississippi, 651 (326-325); Jones County, 655 (326-329); Hinds, 661 (332-329); Northeast Mississippi, 673 (332-341); Holmes, 692 (352-339); and Itawamba, 694 (344-350). Williams, who tied for third-place honors, also qualified for the All-Tournament Team. He is a product of Parkers Chapel High School in Eldorado, Ark. Other EC team members and their respective high schools include Taylor York of Choctaw Central, 155 (73-82); Lee McDill of Newton County, 162 (79-83); Aaron Tucker of Leake Central, 163 (80-83); Shelby Patterson of Forest, 165 (83-82); and Evan Dowell of Carthage, 181 (86-95). Chris Clark serves as Warrior golf coach. EC golfers travel to Copiah-Lincoln Community College for MACJC Event #3, scheduled March 17-18 on the Wolf Hollow Golf Course in Wesson. |
