Bobcat golfers finish sixth in Hinds CC Tournament

RAYMOND – The Jones County Junior College golf team finished sixth in the Hinds Community College Tournament here at Eagle Ridge Golf Club over the weekend.

JCJC shot a 329 on Sunday to go with a first round of 326 from Saturday, giving them a 655.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College rallied from eight strokes back after the first round to win the event. MGCCC shot a 321-304 for a 625. That was five strokes better than first round leader Co-Lin, who shot a 313-317 to finish second at 630.

Co-Lin’s Corbin May was tournament medalist with a 71-76 – 147, which was two shots better than East Mississippi’s Caleb Westmoreland, who posted a 77-72 – 149.

Branning Dykes led the JCJC golfers with a 76-79 – 155, which tied him for seventh place. Sawyer Taylor had an 81-80 – 161, Cory Brown shot an 83-83 – 166, Zach Toney posted an 86-87 – 173 and Anthony Herrington fired an 87-88 – 175. Playing as an individual, Jon-Michael White shot a 91-96 – 187.

The next MACJC event will be the Co-Lin Tournament on March 17-18 at Wolf Hollow Golf Club in Wesson.
