Panthers Finish 4th in MSAC

Host #5 Broome in Playoff Opener Tuesday
AUBURN, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team closed out the regular season Saturday with a 63-58 win at Cayuga Community College. The Panthers finish the regular season fourth in the Mid-State Athletic Conference with a MSAC record of 6-6 and an overall mark of 8-14 overall. As the fourth-seed, the Panthers will host an opening round MSAC playoff game against #5 Broome Community College Tuesday at 6 p.m. Cayuga ends the regular season 2-10 in the MSAC and 4-22 overall.
TC3 took a double-digits lead in the first half, but a late rally by Cayuga tied the game at 26-26 at the break. The Panthers outscored the hosts 37-32 in the second half to secure the win and the program’s first top-four conference finish in the last three years.
Meghan Ideman (Moravia H.S./Moravia) poured in 22 points while grabbing eight rebounds to pace the visitors. Becca Holton Tomasdottir (Cape Fear Academy (N.C.)/Reykjavik, Iceland) scored 16 points to give her 368 this year, the third most in a season in the history of TC3 women’s basketball. She passed Heather Andrews (363 in 2003-04) to move into third, and now trails only TC3 Panther Hall of Famer Jaime Fisher (422 in 2003-04) and current women’s coach Jaclyn Sutton (455 in 2004-05).
Holton Tomasdottir also recorded six rebounds and five assists. Chelsi Rosa (Bainbridge-Guilford H.S./Bainbridge) and Nicole Goodwin (Newfield H.S./Newfield) each had eight points and six rebound in the win.
