TC3 Men's Basketball Beats Corning 81-67
February 7, 2013Panthers Winners of Five Straight and 13 of Last 14 CORNING, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College men’s basketball team broke open a close game with a strong second half at Corning Wednesday to win for the fifth straight time and 13th time in the last 14 games. The 81-67 victory improves TC3 to 17-4 overall and 9-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Corning is now 6-18 overall and 3-7 in the MSAC. The Panthers trailed at the half 42-41, but took the lead in the second half and gradually pulled away for the 14-point win. Devin Redden (St. Mary’s H.S./Buffalo) had another big gane, scoring a team-high 21 points to go with four assists. Laszlo Hajnoczi (Hunter-Tannersville H.S./Tannersville) had a huge night with 17 rebounds and 12 points. Jaanai Beckford (Northstar Christian Academy/Yonkers) also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds while also passing out five assists. Tyseem Lyles (Health Professions H.S./Brooklyn) tossed in 14 points while recording team-bests of six assists and six steals. TC3 is off until Onondaga Community College comes to Dryden on Wednesday, February 13 for the regular season home finale. |
