 January 27, 2013

Panthers Fall at Finger Lakes

CANADAIGUA, N.Y. – A hot-shooting home team was too much for the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team Saturday as the Panthers lost at Finger Lakes Community College 100-68. TC3 drops to 3-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 5-12 overall. Finger Lakes is now 6-1 in the MSAC and 10-10 overall.

The offense wasn’t the problem, as the Panthers’ 68 points represented the fourth-highest total of the season. The problem was the home team’s hot hand – Finger Lakes made 53% of its shots, including an astounding 11-of-16 from three-point range. Finger Lakes led 45-26 at the half and extended the margin with a 55-42 advantage in the second half.

Becca Holton Tomasdottir (Cape Fear Academy (N.C.)/Reykjavik, Iceland) led TC3 with 17 points and four assists. Meghan Ideman (Moravia H.S./Moravia) followed with 14 points and five rebounds, Nicole Goodwin (Newfield H.S./Newfield) posted 12 points and four rebounds, and Chelsi Rosa (Bainebridge-Guilford H.S./Bainebridge) added 11 points and five rebounds. Audrey Kate Ordway (Dryden H.S./Dryden) grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds while scoring seven points.

TC3 returns home Wednesday to take on Jefferson Community College.
