Eagles explode in second half, rout St. Petersburg

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 14, 2012) - FCSAA No. 10 Tallahassee Community College used a 30-1 run in the second half to blow open a close game and defeat St. Petersburg College, 91-57, in NJCAA men's basketball action on Friday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Eagles, who swept the season series with St. Petersburg to improve to 9-4 heading into Saturday's 4 p.m. contest against Daytona State College. St. Petersburg is now 5-8.

St. Petersburg trailed 42-32 at the half but needed less than five minutes to pull within a point, 46-45, following a three-pointer by Emmanuel Tiluscar at the 15:23 mark.

Tallahassee scored the next six points to grab a 52-45 lead then, after Tiluscar hit one of two from the charity stripe, went on a decisive 24-0 run, capped by a basket from C.J. Washington with 6:15 left in the game to give the Eagles a 76-46 lead.

Tallahassee enjoyed one of its better shooting nights of the season, hitting 31-of-59 (52.5 percent) from the floor. Equally impressive, the Eagles, who were shooting just 67.2 percent from the free throw line entering play on Friday, knocked down 21-of-28 (75.0 percent) against the Titans.

Trevor McDade scored 20 points to lead the Eagles. Bernard Kline came off the bench to toss in 19. Washington added 17 and Alex Andrews and Curtis Diamond scored 11 points each. 

Tiluscar led St. Petersburg with 20.
