Texans pull away from Carl Albert despite lackluster shooting effort
 November 25, 2012

PLANO, Texas – Yanick Moreira recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 23 points and seven rebounds to help lead the top-ranked Texans to a 61-47 victory over Carl Albert College in a game that was closer than the final score indicated.
The Texans led by as many as 15 points in the first half before taking a 13 point lead, 27-14, to the locker room.

South Plains (8-0) stretched that lead to 18 in the opening minutes of the second half before things began to turn the other way.

After Ryan Martin made two free throws with 18:14 remaining in the game, South Plains went cold and Carl Albert went on a 16-0 scoring run to pull within two points.

The Texans finally woke up and stretched the lead back to eight, 39-31.  However, Carl Albert would get back to within a point with six minutes left in the contest before the Texans put the game away with a 12-1 scoring run that put the game away.

As a team, the Texans made 23-of-65 (.354) shots from the field, but were a dismal 2-of-17 (.118) from behind the 3-point arc.

South Plains will play the final two games on their fall schedule when they host the SPC Texan Classic Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at the Texan Dome.  South Plains will face Temple Friday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., followed by Hill College Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
