Trailblazers hold on to pull away at end for 63-44 win over Lincoln Land
November 25, 2012The fifth-ranked Vincennes Trailblazers didn't shake off the post-Thanksgiving feast sleepiness until late in their game vs. Lincoln Land Saturday night, but held on to pull away late for a 63-44 win over the visiting Loggers at the VU P.E. Complex. Sophomore Deshawn Delaney scored a game-high 20 points (15 in the second half). Sophomores Tyran de Lattibeaudiere and Jerrod Gaston had 10 and nine points, respectively. VU (7-0) came into the game averaging nearly 90 points per game, but Lincoln Land employed a zone defense packed in tightly and a solid job of taking care of the ball at the other end to keep the Trailblazers within striking distance most of the game. VU led by only a 28-24 score at the half. The Trailblazers finally got control and established their first double-digit lead at 52-42 with 3:07 to play. From there, VU outscored Lincoln Land 11-2 to create a cushion at the end.VU will travel to Lewis & Clark Wednesday for an 8:30 p.m. (Vincennes time) game in Godfrey, IL. |
