Cincinnati State beats Schoolcraft to claim regional championship
 October 29, 2012

The Cincinnati State men's soccer team beat Schoolcraft College 2-1 to win the NJCAA Region XII tournament championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Surge were able to earn retribution from last year's 2-1 regional final loss to Schoolcraft thanks to goals by freshmen Bradley Gale in the 30th minute and Austin Klueh in the 65th. Schoolcraft quickly countered with a goal in the 70th minute but were unable to even the score as Head Coach Mike Combs and the Surge claimed their second regional title in three seasons.

Cincinnati State sophomore Justin Mitchell was named tournament MVP. Goalie Ryan Strunk, defender Austin Klueh, and midfielders Liam Doyle and Joe Bradley were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Cincinnati State, who improved to 16-5-1, will host the district championship game against Baltimore County Community College- Essex on Saturday at 3:00 pm. The game will be played at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.

The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Albany, Georgia.
