 October 25, 2012

BOONEVILLE, Miss. –  Northeast Mississippi Community College’s football team will wrap up its 2012 campaign as the Tigers make the trek to Moorhead to take on Mississippi Delta in a North Division showdown on Thursday, October 25.

Northeast (2-6, 1-4 in North Division) enters Thursday’s showdown with both of its wins coming on the road.

Northeast knocked off Jones County in Ellisville on September 8 30-21 and turned the trick against Coahoma on October 4 as Northeast walked out of Clarksdale with a 21-17 decision.

Mississippi Delta enters the match-up after scoring its first victory of the season in Week 8 action against Coahoma. The Trojans knocked off the Tigers 34-7 in Clarksdale on Saturday, October 20 for their first win of the year.

Mississippi Delta leads the all-time series 29-18 but Northeast has captured the last two meetings between the two teams including a 16-3 victory last season and a 26-13 decision during the 2010 season.

Northeast has also taken five of the last seven meetings between the two squads.

Northeast brings one of the nation’s top punters into the game.

Afterleading the nation for most of the season, Jonathan Harrison (Belmont) slipped into a tie for third in the national standings after the Tigers homecoming game with the Itawamba Indians.
