Hinds football heads to the River for final game

RAYMOND – The 2012 version of Hinds Community College Eagles football will end on Thursday night with the Eagles looking to pick up one final victory at Pearl River Community College.

The Eagles will travel to Poplarville for the 7 p.m. matchup with the Wildcats. Both teams enter the contest with identical 3-5 records, with Hinds sitting at 1-4 in the South division and Pearl River sitting at 2-3 in the South.

Hinds will feature the two-headed ground attack of sophomore running backs Jabari Baker (Jackson) and Darryan Ragsdale (Pelahatchie) on Thursday night

Baker leads the Eagles in several categories, including rushes (105), yards (697) and is tied for the team lead in touchdowns (six).

Ragsdale has 99 carries for 521 yards and has scored two touchdowns heading into the final game.

Mitchell Hoskins (Port Gibson) leads the Eagles defense in tackles with 57 (33 solos, 24 assists). The sophomore linebacker also has one sack and six tackles for a loss on the season.

Pearl River will enter Thursday night’s game featuring an aerial attack led by quarterback Dylan Favre, who has thrown for 1,585 yards and 14 touchdowns to this point.

Favre has spread the wealth among his receiving corps, as six Wildcat receivers have double-digits in catches, led by Darius Holder. The wide receiver/quarterback has 23 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns.

Emmanuel Ray, a freshman defensive back, leads the Wildcats with 39 tackles (18 solos, 21 assists) on the season.
