VU's Whitney Wiist finishes 11th at U of Evansville Invitational

Sophomore Hunter Motz 21st for VU in event's men’s race

EVANSVILLE – Vincennes University freshman Whitney Wiist continued her strong initial campaign with the Trailblazer Cross Country program when she finished 11th out of 55 runners at the University of Evansville Invitational.

Also, VU sophomore Hunter Motz was 21st in the event’s men’s race.

Wiist finished the 5K course in 19:25.59. The winning time was 17:48.09 by Evansville’s Kelby Jenkins. Motz turned in an 8K time of 27:01.85 while Evansville’s Josh Genet won the men’s race in 29:38.50.

Other VU runners in the women’s race were sophomore Corinne Butler (36th) with a time of 21:48.67 and freshman Chelsey Baker (51st) at 25:14.58. For the Trailblazer men, freshman Dylan Harrison was 66th in 30:12.40, while freshman John Rodrick came in 70th at 30:36.11. Sophomore Morgan Dearing finished 73rd in 31:22.49, freshman Brody Wilson ran the course in 31:26.29 for 74th place and freshman Dylan Disinger was 85th in 35:07.74.

The Trailblazers will compete in the NJCAA Region 12 Championships on Oct. 27 in Lansing, MI.
