ECCC Soccer Warriors Defeat Itawamba 4-1

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team claimed a key MACJC North Division contest following their 4-1 defeat of Itawamba Community College Wednesday, Oct. 10 in Tupelo.
McGee Ledbetter scored twice and Drew Norman and Will Thompson added a goal each as the Soccer Warriors improved to 8-5-3 overall and 3-2-1 in league play. EC is currently tied for second in the division.
Ledbetter scored his first goal in the 6th minute and received a scoring assist from Russ Thompson. Ledbetter is a sophomore forward/midfielder from Heritage Academy. Thompson is a freshman forward from Newton County.
Norman’s unassisted goal came in the 10th minute. Norman is a sophomore midfielder from Florence.
Ledbetter scored his second goal in the 50th minute. Ronnie Tisdale was credited with a scoring assist. Tisdale is a sophomore midfielder/defender from Pascagoula.
Thompson’s unassisted goal came in the 77th minute. Thompson is a freshman forward from Newton County.
In the women’s contest, EC was blanked 2-0. The Lady Soccer Warriors are 2-13 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Both squads conclude home action with division foe Hinds Community College Friday, Oct. 12. Game times are 2 and 4 p.m. on the EC pitch.
Regular season competition ends Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Matchups are set for 2 and 4 p.m. on the Senatobia campus.
