ECCC Warriors 46-21 Homecoming Victim at JCJC
 October 8, 2012

After posting two straight MACJC South Division victories, East Central Community College’s Warriors were unable to overcome an early 20-0 deficit and were outscored 46-21 by Jones County Junior College Saturday afternoon on the Ellisville campus.

EC dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in league play while the Bobcats improved to 4-2 and 3-1 following the homecoming victory.

The Warriors were led by sophomore Brock Hall who scored on runs of 31 and 19 yards and connected with receiver Ricky Hunt on a 57-yard TD strike. Freshman kicker Austin Franklin of Petal made all three PATs. His best punt covered 56 yards.

Hall, a product of Paul W. Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa, completed 10 of 25 passes for 138 yards and had two interceptions. He also led in rushing with nine carries for 73 yards.

Hunt, who normally plays defensive back, was Hall’s leading receiver with three grabs for 64 yards. Hunt is a product of North Panola High School in Sardis.

Ethan Hamilton tossed TD passes of 25 and 63 yards to fellow freshman Dylan Bossier in his first start as the Bobcat signal caller.

Hamilton is a product of Noxapater High School. Bossier hails from Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette, La.

Sophomore rusher Reuben Ducksworth of Mount Olive also tallied twice for Jones, as he found pay dirt on a one-yard run early in second quarter action and later on a seven-yard scoring play in the final stanza.

The Bobcats’ final TD came on Jamichael Willis’ 38-yard return of Franklin’s onside kick with just over four minutes remaining. Willis is a product of Gardendale (Ala.) High School.

Freshman kicker Grant McLaurin accounted for the Bobcats’ other points by connecting on field goals of 21 and 41 yards for an early 6-0 lead. The Forrest County AHS product made four of six PATs.

Next up for EC is another homecoming affair scheduled at Mississippi Delta Community College Saturday, Oct. 13. Kickoff for the non-division battle is set for 2 p.m. on the Moorhead campus.

The Trojans are winless in six starts.
