Bobcat soccer teams post huge division wins over MGCCC
October 7, 2012ELLISVILLE – It was a good night for the Jones County Junior College soccer teams. JCJC swept Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in MACJC South Division play here Friday at Bobcat Soccer Field. The 15th-ranked Lady Bobcats posted a 2-0 victory, while the JCJC men beat the Bulldogs, 3-2. The Lady Bobcats improved to 9-0-1 overall and 6-0 in division play. They have now clinched a spot in the MACJC State Tournament, which will be held Oct. 20-21 at the South Division men’s winner. The Bobcat men are now 3-6-1 overall, but more importantly, 3-2-1 in division play. Pearl River is 5-0 in the division, while MGCCC is 3-3. The top two teams qualify for the playoffs. In Friday’s men’s game, the Bobcats scored first on a lengthy kick by Oak Grove sophomore Bowen Terrill at 24:15. The Bulldogs tied it at 1-1 on a goal by Ethan Paschal at 34:09. JCJC took a 2-1 lead at 63:21 when Mobile, Ala., freshman Kevin Ndongo scored off an assist by Terrill. The Bobcats increased the lead to 3-1 at 79:12 on a goal by Northeast Jones freshman JaMarcus Ducksworth. Jacob Hoerner scored at 87:41 to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Bobcats held on for the win. George County sophomore Alan Davidson was in goal for JCJC. JCJC outshot MGCCC, 8-6. The Bulldogs are now 4-7-2 overall. In the women’s game, the Lady Bobcats took a 1-0 lead when Greene County freshman Kelsey Cochran scored at 32:56. JCJC’s second goal came at 56:29 when Oak Grove sophomore Cassidy Brinson scored off an assist by Ridgeland freshman Madison Walker. D’Iberville sophomore Aundrea Borchardt was in goal for JCJC. The Lady Bobcats outshot MGCCC, 15-2. The Lady Bulldogs are now 5-6 overall, 2-4 in the division. The JCJC soccer teams will host East Central Community College in makeup matches on Sunday. The women’s game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m. Fans can keep up with JCJC vs. East Central games by going to http://livestats.prestosports.com/jonescountyjc/.
