ECCC Soccer Warriors Take Season Series with Gulf Coast

McGee Ledbetter’s goal in the 98th minute provided the East Central Community College men’s soccer team with a 2-1 overtime victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Friday afternoon on the Decatur campus.
The Soccer Warriors improved to 6-3-2 following the non-division win and also registered a series sweep of the Bulldogs. EC won the earlier contest by a 4-0 margin on the Perkinston campus. The Warriors are 2-1-1 in the MACJC North Division.
Ledbetter, a sophomore forward/midfielder from Heritage Academy in Columbus, was assisted by sophomore midfielder Drew Norman of Florence and freshman forward Russ Thompson, a product of Newton County High School.
EC’s first score was credited to a Gulf Coast player.
In the women’s game, Gulf Coast was victorious by a 3-1 margin.
Mackenzie Britt scored for EC and Kelsey Tadlock was credited with an assist. Britt is a freshman midfielder from Florence and Tadlock is a sophomore forward from Newton County High School.
The Lady Soccer Warriors are now 2-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Next up for EC squads are non-division matchups with Meridian Community College scheduled Wednesday, October 3. Game times are 5 and 7 p.m. on the MCC campus.
