No. 15 Lady Bobcats blank Itawamba, 6-0
September 30, 2012FULTON – The 15h-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats remained unbeaten on the season here Saturday afternoon. JCJC led 2-0 at halftime and went on to post a 6-0 victory over Itawamba Community College. The victory improves JCJC to 7-0-1 overall on the season. ICC falls to 4-5-1. JCJC got goals from Morgan Pace at 8:06 and Kelsey Cochran at 13:42 to go up by two goals at the half. Alexis Thornton scored at 55:19 to make it 3-0. Cassidy Brinson had goals at 61:38 and 74:54 to give the Lady Bobcats a 5-0 lead. Cochran’s goal at 78:08 ended the scoring. Kristen Pittman was in goal for Jones. JCJC outshot ICC, 12-0. In the men’s game, the Indians beat the Bobcats, 4-1. Hunter McGhie scored at 8:19, Estevan Garcia scored at 11:22 and McGhie scored again at 34:41 off an assist by Ashley Page to give the Indians a 3-0 lead at intermission. Jackson Cornelius scored at 53:52 for ICC. JCJC’s only goal came at 86:20 by Cole Mitchell. The Indians outshot the Bobcats, 4-3. JCJC falls to 1-6-1, while Itawamba is now 4-4-3. The Bobcats travel to Co-Lin at 4/6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast at 5/7 p.m. on Friday. JCJC will host East Central at 5/7 p.m. on Oct. 7 in makeup games. Itawamba hosts Holmes on Tuesday. |
