NJCAA Baseball Players of the Week (March 18, 2009)
 March 18, 2009

Colorado Springs, Colo.- Jakob Dalfonso of Middle Georgia College and Kendal Korbal of Blinn College are the Division I Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for week ending March 15.  Les Aulds of LSU-Eunice and Ryan Juris of Heartland Community College earn the Division II honors.  There were no Division III dominations.

Division I

Jakob Dalfonso (Woodstock High; Woodstock, Ga.) compiled a .560 batting average last week to earn the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week honor.  The 6'3" freshman recorded 14 hits on 25 at bats as Middle Georgia recorded a perfect 6-0 week.  The shortstop was credited with five RBIs, drew six walks and stole 12 bases over the week. 

 

 

 

 Kendal Korbal (Langham Creek High; Houston, Tex.) pitched seven innings, giving up only five hits as Blinn College beat Wharton County 6-2 on March 14 to be named the NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week.  The 6'5" sophomore right hander allowed two runs and struck out six in his first win of the season.

 

 

Division II 

Les Aulds (West Monroe High; West Monroe, La.) earned a .647 batting average over six games last week to be named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week.  The 6'0 left fielder had 11 hits on 17 at bats to lead LSU-Eunice to a 6-0 record last week. Aulds, a freshman, drove in six RBIs off 11 hits with a double, two triples and hit his third home run of the season.  Aulds also drew seven walks and stole a base.

 

 

 

 

Pre-season All-American, Ryan Juris (Bloomington High; Bloomington, Ill.) pitched Heartland Community College to two wins last week, earning NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week honors. The 6'2" sophomore pitched 11 innings over two games, including a complete game in a 9-0 win over pre-season No. 15 Oakton Community College where he allowed only three hits, struck out eight and allowed no walks.  Earlier in the week, Juris pitched four innings against St. Clair, striking out six and walking one over four innings.
