Rochester Caps Perfect Season by Winning DIII National Title on Home Court

ROCHESTER, Minn. - It's being called the perfect end to a perfect season.
In its first year as host of the NJCAA Women's Division III Basketball Championship Tournament, Rochester Community & Technical College won its first-ever national title in school history on March 12 with a 87-63 win over Madison Area Technical College, Wisc.
Over 1,500 fans watched the Yellowjackets cruise to victory as Anne Breland scored a game-high 32 points to go with 10 rebounds. Maria Gangelhoff had 15 points; Tess Milczark added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Amanda Degnan scored 10. Guard Sam Sikkink chipped in seven points and eight assists.
Breland earned MVP of the Tournament due to her dominating play. She scored 61 points in three games for Rochester, shooting 61.1 percent from the field (11-18) and 52.6 percent from behind the three-point arc (10-19). She also averaged over seven rebounds a game in the tournament.
The win concludes Rochester's season at a perfect 34-0.
Madison was led in the title game by Rebecca Glasbrenner and Abble Windus who both had 14 points a piece. Glasbrenner also had 15 rebounds and two steals in the contest.
The Wolfpack ends the 2009 season with a 25-8 record.
