NJCAA mourns loss of former Glendale AD Pete Pisciotta

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Former Glendale (Ariz.) football coach and athletic director Pete Pisciotta died on Aug. 20 at the age of 78.

Pisciotta, a native of Pueblo, Colo., was a successfull high school coach at Pueblo Catholic (Colo.), Washington (Ariz.) and Brophy Prep (Ariz.) before his tenure at Glendale. Pisciotta started at Glendale in 1967 as an assistant football coach and moved into the head coach position in 1979. He became an assistant director of athletics in 1975, and after two seasons as both head coach and assistant athletic director, moving solely into administration as athletic director in 1981. He retired in 1997.

He just recently was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. Pisciotta was a member of the NACDA Executive Committee and a founding member of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators, serving as the treasurer from 1992-96. He’s been honored with the NJCAA Service Award in 1997, the L. William Miller Award in 1999 from the NATYCAA and is a member of the Greater Pueblo County Sports Association Hall of Fame (1991) and NATYCAA inaugural hall of fame class in 2005.
