Hutchinson trounces Dakota-Bottineau, wins 5th straight Salt City Bowl
 December 7, 2013

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – No. 18 Hutchinson cruised to a 57-0 victory over Dakota-Bottineau Saturday, claiming their fifth consecutive Salt City Bowl victory. The win was the largest margin of victory in the event’s brief five-year history.

The Blue Dragons set the tone early, scoring on its first play from scrimmage – a 60-yard pass from Frankie Seurer to Jabril Soloman. Just four minutes later, Seurer connected with Mike Blakely on a 23-yard pass to increase Hutchinson’s lead to 14-0. Blakely would score again late in the first quarter on a 32-yard touchdown.

A lone safety by the Hutchinson defense was the only scoring in the second quarter and gave the home team a 22-0 lead at the half. Then came a 28-point third quarter that put the game out of reach for the over-matched Lumberjacks.

Hutchinson racked up 600 yards of offense while limiting the Bottineau to just six first downs. Zack Weekley led the Blue Dragon defense with nine tackles, one for loss, and a fumble recovery. Claude George recorded eight tackles, four sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass break up.

Seurer was awarded game MVP honors with 190 yards passing and three touchdowns along with 100 yards rushing. Chase Abbington led all rushers with 103 yards and also had a touchdown. Soloman led all receivers with 73 yards and a score.
