OC Sports Softball Players of the Week: March 4-10
 March 13, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emery Fox (Western Oklahoma State), Ollivia McLemore (Gulf Coast State, Fla.), Kaley Pyles (Highland CC, Kan.) and Jackie Aguilar (Mesa CC, Ariz.) have been named OC Sports NJCAA softball players of the week for games March 4-10.



DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emery Fox – Western Oklahoma State College
First Base – Oktaha, Okla. – Oktaha High School

Fox’s bat propelled the Pioneers to victory in five of their six games last week. The sophomore put together a .714 batting average (10-for-14) with 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Recording multiple home runs in three games, Fox totaled seven homers in the six contests. Fox also showcased her speed on the basepaths with five stolen bases on the week. In 2013, Fox leads the Pioneers with a .421 batting average, 32 hits, 10 home runs and 30 RBIs.



DIVISION I PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Ollivia McLemore – Gulf Coast State College, Fla.
Right-Handed Pitcher – Salem, Ala. – Glenwood High School

In 32 innings of work last week, McLemore had a 2-1 record in her five appearances for the Commodores. The sophomore racked up 36 strikeouts including 12 in a 19-0 rout of Lake Michigan College. After pitching five perfect innings in the victory, McLemore went on to hold her opponents to seven hits and one earned run in her next 28 innings. Establishing herself as the No. 9 Commodores’ workhorse, McLemore has a 0.93 ERA in a team-high 121 innings pitched.


DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  

Kaley Pyles – Highland Community College, Kan.
Shortstop – Dekalb, Mo. – Dekalb High School

Pyles’ efficiency at the plate last week spurred the No. 18 Scotties on to six consecutive victories. Batting for a .692 average (9-for-13), the freshman brought home 16 runs and scored nine of her own. Pyles added four home runs, four walks and three stolen bases to her weekly stats.



DIVISION II PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jackie Aguilar – Mesa Community College, Ariz.
Left-Handed Pitcher – Glendale, Ariz. – Bourgade Catholic High School

Claiming victory in all five of their games last week, the Thunderbirds picked up two wins off the left arm of Aguilar. The freshman dealt seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win over William Penn JV, striking out 12 batters and giving up only two hits. Aguilar again held her opponent to two hits in a 12-0 win over CC of Spokane, striking out 11 in five shutout innings. On the season, Aguilar’s 0.53 ERA, 149 strikeouts and 93 innings pitched leads the Thunderbirds.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
