COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Abigial Asoro (Daytona State, Fla.), Arnisha Thomas (Illinois Valley CC) and Mecca Norfleet (Hostos CC, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA women’s basketball players of the week for games Jan. 14-20.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abigail Asoro – Daytona State College, Fla.
Forward – Stockholm, Sweden

In two games last week in the Sunshine State, Asoro stepped up for the Falcons with back-to-back double-double performances. In a 66-55 win over College of Central Florida, the freshman scored 36 points on 13-of-24 shooting from the field to go along with 15 rebounds and five steals. Despite falling 83-74 to Florida State-Jacksonville, Asoro posted 27 points and hauled down 12 rebounds.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Arnisha Thomas – Illinois Valley Community College
Guard – Milwaukee, Wis. – Bradley Technical & Trade School

The No. 20 Eagles picked up back-to-back victories last week behind Thomas’ dominant interior play. Thomas racked up 28 points and 17 rebounds in a 74-73 win against Highland CC (Ill.). The sophomore came back with 35 points, 16 rebounds and five steals in an 80-64 victory over Sauk Valley CC (Ill).

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mecca Norfleet – Hostos Community College, N.Y.
Guard – Queens, N.Y. – School of the Future

Norfleet led the Caimans to two much-needed victories last week. The freshman put her versatility on display against Borough of Manhattan CC (N.Y.), registering 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and seven steals en route to a 48-46 win. In a 65-58 victory over Nassau CC (N.Y.), Norfleet repeated her 23-point performance and added six assists to the effort.
