Gloucester Holds Slim Lead at DIII Women's Tennis Championship Heading into Final Day
October 26, 2012
Gloucester Community College (N.J.) holds a slim half-point lead after two days of the 2012 NJCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center in New York. The Sewell, N.J. school collected 26 total points, while Fashion Institute of Technology (N.Y.) garnered 25.5. Broome Community College (N.Y.) fell back to third place after netting 25 total points. Ocean County College (N.J.) is still in the hunt with 24 team points. Ironically, none of the team leaders will have a participant in the top flight of singles competition. In that flight, Brookdale CC's Farrah Smoke will face Rock Valley's Nicole Beck. Both competed in last year's tournament. All other flight championships involve the four teams vying for the team title. Action concludes Friday with singles beginning at 9am EDT. Doubles competition will begin shortly thereafter.
