NJCAA Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 8-14

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mikaela Howell (Monroe College, N.Y.), Erika Brinkman (Owens CC, Ohio), Kali Muhlesien (Alfred State College, N.Y.) and Erin Kinneman (Brookdale CC, N.J.) have been named NJCAA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for matches Oct. 8-14.
 


DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mikaela Howell – Monroe College, N.Y.
Midfielder – Basingstoke, England

Putting her shooting and passing talents on display last week, Howell spearheaded Monroe to three-straight blowout victories. The sophomore connected on five-of-eight shots on goal in the three matches. Howell spread the wealth around with eight assists, totaling 18 points on the week. No. 6 Monroe and Howell host Briarcliffe College in their regular season finale Thursday.



DIVISION I GOALIE OF THE WEEK

Erika Brinkman – Owens Community College, Ohio
Kalida, Ohio – Kalida High School

Shutting out two of the Express’ three opponents last week, Brinkman upped her shutout-total to 10 this season. In goal for all 270 minutes of Owens’ three matches, Brinkman turned away 12 of the 13 shots at her goal. The freshman’s lone allowed goal came in a 4-1 win over Kellogg CC (Mich.). No. 16 Owens and Brinkman close out their regular season Saturday at Cincinnati State TCC (Ohio). 



DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kali Muhleisen – Alfred State College, N.Y.
Forward – Hornell, N.Y. – Alfred Almond High School

The Pioneers earned three key victories last week behind the exceptional offensive play by Muhleisen. The freshman totaled six goals on the week, converting half of her shots on goal. Muhleisen posted a hat-trick in a 8-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan JV, scoring three goals in the contest. Adding an assist in the effort, Muhleisen finished the week with 13 points. No. 1 Alfred State and Muhleisen finish their regular season against Penn College of Technology Wednesday.



DIVISION III GOALIE OF THE WEEK

Erin Kinneman – Brookdale CC, N.J.
Aberdeen, N.J. – Matawan High School

Kinneman anchored the Jersey Blues’ net last week as Brookdale tied that nation’s top-ranked team and claimed another victory. Kinneman denied 11 of the 13 shots at her net against No. 1 Ocean CC (N.J.), giving up two goals in the 2-2 tie. The freshman came back with five saves in Brookdale’s 5-0 win over Montgomery County CC (Pa.). Thursday, Kinneman and the No. 5 Jersey Blues head to Raritan Valley CC (N.J.) for their final regular season contest.
