September 7, 2011NJCAA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – Sept. 7, 2011 In Division I, Brown was named Player of the Week, while Crenshaw was named Goalie of the Week. Giacapuzzi was selected Player of the Week for Division III.
DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK Brown (5’ 3”) racked up four goals in USC – Lancaster’s 10-0 blowout of Stanly CC (N.C.). The freshman displayed her accuracy by scoring the four goals on only six shots. Brown has six goals for the season and will look to build on that total Sunday at Cape Fear CC (N.C.).
DIVISION I GOALIE OF THE WEEK Crenshaw (5’7”) saved five of six shots for No. 14 Johnson County to preserve a 1-1 tie against No. 6 Monroe CC (N.Y.). Despite the Cavaliers’ 0-0-2 start to 2011, Crenshaw boasts a .888 save percentage. The freshman will be tested again Saturday, when Johnson County hits the road to face Southwestern Illinois College.
DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK Giacapuzzi (5’ 0”) led Finger Lakes CC to a 3-0 record last week with a total of five goals and two assists. In her first collegiate match, the freshman contributed with an assist in a 3-1 win over Onondaga CC (N.Y.). Beating Fulton-Montgomery CC (N.Y.) 8-0, Giacapuzzi picked up a hat-trick with three goals in the game. Giacapuzzi finished off the week with two goals in a 4-1 victory over Hudson Valley CC (N.Y.).
