September 7, 2011NJCAA Men’s Soccer Players of the Week – Sept. 7, 2011 Hanachek was selected Player of the Week for Division I, while Montgomery was Player of the Week and Szczerba was Goalie of the Week in Division III.
DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK Hanachek (5’ 5”) led College of Lake County to a 3-0 record last week. The sophomore midfielder tallied two assists and a goal in a 3-1 win over Bismark State College (N.D.) from Division III. Hanachek scored two goals in a 3-2 victory over Division I opponent Dakota County Tech (Minn.). DIVISION I GOALIE OF THE WEEK DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK Anderson (5’ 10”) finished last week with four goals and nine points in two blowout victories for No. 2 Herkimer CCC. The freshman thrived in his first collegiate match, scoring three goals in a 4-0 win over Hudson Valley CC (N.Y.). In a 9-0 win over Clinton CC (N.Y.), Anderson pelted the goalie with 19 shots and finished with one goal and one assist. DIVISION III GOALIE OF THE WEEK Szczerba (5’11”) shutout both of No. 2 Herkimer CCC’s opponents this week. The freshman recorded five saves in a 4-0 win over Hudson Valley CCC (N.Y.) and four saves in a 9-0 blowout of Clinton CC (N.Y.). Szczerba will try to remain perfect on the season as the Generals head to Fulton-Montgomery CC (N.Y.) Wednesday.
