NJCAA Women’s Basketball Players of the Week (Jan. 26, 2011)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Hutchinson Community College (Kan.) forward Jackie Patterson, Ancilla College (Ind.) forward Shalana Murray, Kishwaukee College (Ill.) forward Devin Mack, and Joliet Junior College (Ill.) guard Crystal Daniels are the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Players of the Week.    

Division I    


Jackie Patterson, Hutchinson’s 6’1” forward, put up big games against Barton and Colby this past week to earn Player of the Week honors. She averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 blocks over the two games. In an 81-50 win over Barton, the Frisco, Texas native recorded a 16 point-11 rebound double-double, to go along with four assists, two blocks, and two steals. Patterson also shot 16-of-23 from the field (a 69.9% shooting percentage).


 Division II




Ancilla College’s 5’11” forward, Shalana Murray, had back-to-back monster games against Grand Rapids and Kellogg this past week, both conference opponents. She logged a 16 point-16 rebound double-double versus Grand Rapids, and then three nights later, showed up with a 10 point-15 rebound effort to beat Kellogg, 54-52. The South Bend, Indiana native also averaged 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game over the span.

  Devin Mack, a Rockford, Illinois native, also posted back-to-back double-doubles in games versus Black Hawk and South Suburban this past week. She averaged 22.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over both games. Her first double-double effort included 30 points and 12 rebounds. Her second, only three days later, came with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Mack, a 5’10” forward, shot 66.6% from the field on 14-of-21 shooting. She was also nominated for the Region IV Player of the Week honors.  
 Division III    




Crystal Daniels, Joliet Junior College’s 5’6” guard, played solidly this past week and facilitated two victories for her squad versus Triton College and Wright College. In her first game, the Sauk Village, Illinois native put up 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting, and added two rebounds, an assist, and four steals. In her second contest against Wright, Daniels recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the 76-54 victory. Daniels shot 100% on 3-pointers during the two games as well.
