Cochran still playing for Jones County Lady Bobcats in nationals
May 4, 2010TUCSON, Ariz. - Jones County Junior College's Arlette Cochran is still competing in the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Tournament here at the Reffkin Tennis Center. Cochran, a George County freshman, defeated Megan Pazdemick of Lake County College (Ill.), 8-0, here Tuesday morning in the consolation round of No. 5 singles. Cochran will face Wrylie Finkle of Cowley County Community College (Kan.) at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the consolation semifinals. JCJC's other remaining players were eliminated on Tuesday. Wayne Academy sophomore Tiffany Hudson fell, 6-1, 6-0, to Antonia Kolovou of Tyler Junior College (Texas) in the quarterfinals of the championship round of No. 3 singles. Northeast Jones' sophomore Meredith Johnson lost to Mariel Alvarez of North Central Texas College, 8-0, in the consolation quarterfinals of No. 2 singles. Oak Grove sophomore Rebecca Rogers fell to Rachel Clark of Eastern Arizona College, 8-0, in the consolation quarterfinals of No. 4 singles. The tournament concludes Friday.
