NJCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week (Feb. 17, 2010)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - C.J. Washington from Connors State College (Okla.), Esaie Touze of Community College of Rhode Island, and Jackie Lindsay of Springfield Technical Community College (Mass.) have been selected the NJCAA Men's Basketball Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-13.
Washington, a 6'7" power forward from Stringtown, Okla. had an outstanding week where he found himself averaging a double -double for the week. In an 85-65 win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, the sophomore scored 15 points on 4-of-8 from the field, and 7-for-11 from the charity stripe. He also contributed by pulling down 15 rebounds, dished out one assist and had two blocks. Two days later in the 80-52 win over Eastern Oklahoma, Washington put in 29 points on 13-of-18 from the field, 1-for-1 from outside, and 2-for-5 from the line. Just like the previous game, he also grabbed 15 rebounds, had one assist, one steal, and three blocked shots. Two days later he continued to dominate the floor in a 79-67 win over Arkansas Baptist where he scored 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting, and cashed in on all his opportunities from the line going 4-for-4. Working hard down low he grabbed 12 rebounds, had two steals, and had two blocked shots. For the week he averaged 23 points per game shooting 65 percent from the field (28-43), 33 percent from downtown (1-3), 65 percent on free throws (13-20), and averaged 14 rebounds per game which makes him the Division 1 Player of the Week for men's basketball.
Touze, a 6'5" Center from Providence R.I. is the division 2 player of the week for a week that included two double-doubles and two more wins for CCRI. On Feb. 11, in a 78-65 win over Massasoit CC, the sophomore scored 12 points on 5-of-10 from the field, and 2-of-2 from the line. In that game he also had 11 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks. Later in the week in a 76-71 win over Massachusetts Bay CC, Touze had his best game of the week scoring 22 points on 9-of-11 from the field, and 4-of-5 on free throws. With his dominating presence down low, he grabbed 17 off the boards with one steal and four blocks. In the week he averaged 17 points on 67 percent from the field (14-21), 86 percent from the line (6-7), 14 rebounds, and had a total of four assists, one steal, and eight blocked shots.
Lindsay, a 6'2" Guard from Bridgeport, Conn. had an outstanding week for the Rams and a week worthy of being the NJCAA Division 3 Player of the Week. In a 70-63 loss to Quinsigamond CC, the freshman scored 30 points on 4-of-9 from the field, 5-of-11 from downtown and went 8-of-9 from the foul line. In this game he also contributed by grabbing eight rebounds, dished out two assists, had two steals, and one blocked shot. Later in the week, Lindsay and the Rams grabbed an 88-70 win over Massasoit CC where he scored a ridiculous 45 points on 11-of-16 from the field, 5-of-9 from outside, and went almost perfect from the line shooting 8-of-9. Working hard all over the floor, he also grabbed nine rebounds, had two assists, three steals, and three blocks. During the week he averaged an incredible 37.5 points per game on 60 percent from the field (15-25), 50 percent from beyond the arc (10-20), 88 percent from the line (15-17), 8.5 rebounds (17), and had a total of four assists, five steals, and four blocked shots.
