On April 2, 2016 the NJCAA Board of Directors, by majority vote, eliminated the allowance which gave member colleges the first 15 calendar days of the academic term to file eligibility. Effective August 1, 2016, NJCAA online eligibility must be submitted for all student-athletes prior to their initial participation for each sport season. The new wording in the NJCAA bylaws will read as follows; “Completed forms must be electronically submitted prior to participation”. See below for examples of how the new wording applies to some specific sport cases.
The new wording DID NOT change the deadlines and allowances that are currently in place for recertification of NJCAA eligibility (Art. V, Sec 3.b.2.b). Sports whose season extends beyond 20 calendar days past the final day of the fall term are required to recertify eligibility to finish out the season. Refer to the link below for the various allowances and requirements for eligibility recertification. Please understand that the recertification requirement varies depending on if you are adding players, lost players or are keeping the same roster from the fall term. | Click here to view Recertification Scenarios
