Stars softball win four in Triple Crown tourney

The Florida State College at Jacksonville Stars softball team won four games in the St Augustine, Florida, Triple Crown softball tournament to improve their record to 8-2 on the season. The Stars beat State College of Florida 3-2 in their only close game then knocked off Palm Beach State 10-4 on Saturday. Then Sunday they defeated the Hawks of Hillsborough CC 11-1, then defeated Indian River State College, currently ranked number 4, one spot ahead of the Stars in the national poll, 9-1 in six innings. FSCJ hit .429 for the weekend with five homeruns, eight doubles and three triples. Leading the attach was Alina Jauregue, at .714, followed by Alona Personius at .545, with 7 rbi, Ashley Burke at .500, Lindsy Dugan at .462 with 7 rbi and Crystal Chesser and Brittany Eppley were also over .400 at .444 and .429 respectively. Rae-Ann Bohm also finished at .429 with a homerun, triple, 4 runs scored and 5 rbi. Pitchers, Eppley, Chesser and Casey Jackman all picked up victories on the weekend.
