Morrison leads Viking Women Bowlers

THE MID-HUDSON CONFERENCE For Immediate Release from: Walter Hauck February 6, 2015 914 606-6180 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK VALHALLA, NY. This week the Mid-Hudson Conference names Natasha Morrison of Westchester Community College as its athlete of the week. Morrison is a freshman on the Westchester Community College Women's Bowling team. Morrison, who bowled in High School for Carmel High School, averaged 203 over six games at the Mardi Bob Tournament at Mardi Bob Bowl in Poughkeepsie. Morrison finished second in the All Events and was named to the All Tournament team beating out numerous athletes from four year NCAA colleges such as Sacred Heart University. Morrison started the tournament with a 232, 207 and a 224 for a 661 series in Doubles. Morrison, who averaged 220 in doubles, and partner Stephanie Frank (North Rockland HS) finished second out of 30 doubles teams in the tournament. -30-

MEN'S BOWLING Rocco Cipriano (Dobbs Ferry HS), Francis Mele (Hendrick Hudson HS) and Jamey Rivera (Stamford Ct) were named Academic All Mid-Hudson Conference for Spring 2014 MEN'S BASKETBALL Joel Angus (Brooklyn) was named Academic All Mid-Hudson Conference for Spring 2014 WOMEN'S GOLF Alexis Birritella was named Academic All Mid-Hudson Conference for Spring 2014 MEN'S GOLF Andrew MacKenzie (North Salem HS), Isaac Fisher (Stamford CT), Raymond Grossman (Somers HS), Francis Mele (Hendrick Hudson HS), Sammuel Wheeler (Harrison HS) and Michael Sokol (Scarsdale HS) were named All Mid-Hudson Conference Academic for spring 2014. COMMUNITY COLLEGE SPORTS MONday SEPT. 15, 2014 SOCCER (RECORD 1-1, REGION 0-1, CONFERENCE 0-1) TUESDAY Sept 9 The Vikings opened their season with a 6-0 loss to Nassau Community College in a game played at Rockland CC...SATURDAY Sept 13 The Vikings earned their first win of the season, 2-0 over Globe Tech in a game played at Rockland CC. VOLLEYBALL (RECORD 0-1, REGION 0-0, CONFERENCE 0-0) SATURDAY SEPT. 13 The Vikings opened the season losing at Passaic 15-25, 23-25, 9-25. BASEBALL Luinlly Suazo who played baseball for the Vikings in 2012 and 13 has transferred to Newman University

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (OVERALL 4-4, REGION XV 3-2, CONFERENCE 1-2)  The Vikings game at Nassau on Thursday January 2 was postponed due to snow storm Hercules……..SATURDAY JANUARY 3 The Vikings reached the .500 mark with a 52-34 win at Kingsborough.

 MEN'S BASKETBALL (RECORD 12-2, REGION 0-0, CONFERENCE 5-0) FRIDAY DECEMBER 27 The Vikings defeated Gateway CC of New Haven 64-49 in the first round of the CCRI tournament in Rhode Island……… SATURDAY DECEMBER 28 The Vikings defeat host CC Rhode Island in the Championship game of the CCRI Tournament 76-61…….. MONDAY DECEMBER 30 The Vikings concluded a busy holiday period with a home International game against Algoma University of Canada. the Vikings came away with a 82-54 win……..Saturday January 4 The Vikings defeated Kingsborough at Kingsborough 101-81

MEN’S BOWLING   Friday December 27 the Vikings opened up the Keystone Rotogrip Classic at the Playdrome Rose Bowl in Allentown Pa.  Malik Martin (Iona Prep) led the Vikes with a 213………Saturday December 28  The Vikings threw a high 242 Baker Game and finished the Keystone Roto Grip Classic in 36th place……….Sunday December 29  Steven Gallello (Salesian HS) averaged 161 on the tough conditions at AMF Parkway Lanes in Allentown in the Lehigh Valley Classic as the Vikings moved into 34th place…….Monday December 30 The Vikings averaged 150 in the Baker Game block as they passed Mohawk Valley CC to finish in 33rd place in thye Lehigh Valley Classic.  Amongst the teams that Westchester beat were U of Nevada Las Vegas and U of Delaware

SOFTBALL Nicole Angelo (Mahopac HS)_ who batted .282 and hit 4 home runs for the Vikings, last season will be playing for SUNY New Paltz this season. Angelo played Volleyball and Softball for two years with the Vikings
