TJC Adding Women's Softball in Fall 2014

Tyler Junior College announces the addition of women's softball to its lineup of NJCAA Division I athletics, beginning in Fall 2014.  It will become part of one of the most successful community college athletic programs in the country, with TJC boasting 49 national championships.

11 Apache soccer players sign
July 3, 2013

After another successful season, 11 Tyler Junior College Apache soccer players signed with four-year schools. Former Apache Eric Weiss Signs with Angels
July 3, 2013

Former Apache Center Fielder Eric Weiss recently signed with the Los Angeles Angels after being drafted in the 35th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft.  While at Tyler, Weiss posted a .401 batting average with 73 RBIs and 35 stolen bases leading the Apaches to an overall two-year record of 85-26 along with a NJCAA District C Championship (2010), NJCAA National Runner-Up (2010), and NJCAA District C Runner-Up (2011).  Before heading to Texas A&M - Corpus Christi to continue his collegiate career, Weiss played in the NJCAA Texas-New Mexico All Star Game, earned NJCAA All-American honors, named to the NJCAA Region XIV All-Academic Team, and graduated with his Associate of Arts degree.

 

TJC First Baseman Eric Stegent Earns 2013 Gold Glove Award
July 3, 2013

Tyler Junior College's Freshman First Baseman Eric Stegent (Brenham, TX) earned this coveted award with a fielding percentage of .995 in 42 games played for the Apaches during the 2013 season.  Stegent becomes the fourth Apache and first TJC freshman to earn this award.  Stegent joins the ranks of Former Apaches Cody Ellerbee (2012), Josh Bates (2010), and Jose Molina (2007) and also becomes the first TJC Freshman to win the Gold Glove Award®.
