Lawton, OK- Former Western Oklahoma State catcher Sonia Foutch was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for her performances last week. The junior out of Denton, TX led Cameron University to a 4-1 record at the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, NV last week. In 11 at bats, Foutch had seven hits including two home runs and drove in eight runs in the tournament. Foutch is currently leading Cameron in batting average (.467), rbi's (8), slugghing percentage (.933), walks (8), and on-base percentage (.625).
Foutch played for Western Oklahoma State for two season and earned All-Conference honors in 2011. At Western, Foutch is second all-time in single season double (15) and third in runs (49), stolen bases (17), and walks (28). "We expect to see girls do well when they move on and we're proud to see Sonia succeed and to be recognized for it," said Western Oklahoma State head coach Mike McBrayer. "Sonia was a big part of the leadership that established our program to what it is today. I'm sure she will do the same thing for Cameron."
