Head Coach Tyler Cannoy Receives NJCAA Division III Region X Coach of the Year Honors
March 7, 2013

Each year the coaches of the NJCAA, Region 10, Division III basketball programs meet to vote on the Coach of the Year award along with player awards. This year, the Coach of the Year honor was given to Wytheville Community College's head coach, Tyler Cannoy. Coach Cannoy started the basketball program at Wytheville Community College four years ago as a club team and has taken the program to the next level joining the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). During Cannoy's four years as head coach, he has seen improvements in team records and has seen 9 players move on or who will move onto the next level of collegiate competition. Coach Cannoy stated, "I am honored to have received this award. I certainly could not have done this without my brother, Thomas, my team and everyone else who has helped to make this a great program. I appreciate all my players, fans and families who come out to watch our games. I definitely want to thank my family for all of their support."

Three Wildcats Receive Post-Season Awards
March 7, 2013

On Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the NJCAA Region X Division III Conference Tournament in Hickory, North Carolina, three Wytheville Community College Wildcat basketball players were recognized for their achievements during the 2012-2013 season. Sophomore, AJ Williams received First Team, All Region honors. During the season AJ averaged 20.1 points per game, 4.4 rebounds and had a 56% field goal percentage. AJ attended Blue Ridge High School in King George, Virginia. Freshman, Jay Allen received Second Team, All Region honors and First Team, All Freshmen honors. During the season Jay averaged 19.3 points per game, 4 rebounds and had a 46% field goal percentage. Jay attended Henrico High School in Richmond, Virginia. Freshman, Robert Pinkston received First Team, All Region honors. During the season Robert averaged 10.7 points per game, and his 3 point field goal percentage was 41%. Robert attended Colonial Heights High School in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

WCC Athletic Department Launches New Athletic Site
December 3, 2012

Wytheville Community College has just launched our new Athletic Website. Rosters, Schedules, Multi-Media and Live-Streaming can be found for all intercollegiate athletic teams on our new site. This new website will serve as a main reference page for all Wildcat players, supporters and fans. Go Wildcats!
