PCC Basketball Has 2-1 Record to Start Off 2009-10 Campaign
November 17, 2009
Pitt Community College basketball is off to a 2-1 record this season as the team prepares for the Storm Shootout this weekend at Tidewater Community College.
The Bulldogs tipped off the 2009-10 campaign Nov. 7 on the road at Davidson County Community College and emerged with a 76-72 victory. Prior to their loss to PCC, the Storm had been a remarkable 27-1 in their home gym over the past two seasons.
“They are a well-coached team, and they play very hard,” Pitt coach Chad Reynolds said of Davidson. “… Our coaching staff was very pleased with the poise that our guys had down the stretch. We were able to take control of the game late and hit some key free throws that put it away.”
Johnny Godette led the Bulldogs with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Damien Williams had 12 points, Efkan Eren added 10 more, and Rodney Williams finished with nine for PCC.
In the College of Southern Maryland Tournament this past weekend, Pitt faced a tough tournament host Friday and fell, 94-89. But the Bulldogs managed to bounce back Saturday with an 87-62 victory over Germana Community College.
This weekend, PCC will square off with Community College of Baltimore County-Dundalk on Saturday before taking on Tidewater the following day.
Pitt’s first home game is scheduled for Dec. 2 against TCC at 7 p.m. in the Charles Coburn Center.
