Gloucester Women's Tennis Serves School Supplies to Local Children

The Gloucester County College women's tennis team rallied to support Operation Backpack 2009, a Volunteer Center of Gloucester County initiative that provides school supplies to children and teens in need. Tennis team members Kristin Abdallah (left) of Washington Township and Amanda Berry (right) of Logan Township presented Kim Capri of the Volunteer Center with five backpacks filled with back-to-school items. Last year, the Volunteer Center collected more than 185 book bags.

The GCC women's tennis team finished one of its finest seasons this year, winning a conference and regional championship as well as a fourth-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament.

The Volunteer Center of Gloucester County promotes volunteerism by connecting people with opportunities to serve, providing community agencies with resources and training, and building community partnerships to meet local needs. The Center is located on the campus of Gloucester County College. For more information, call (856) 415-9084 or visit the Web site at www.gloucestercountyvolunteers.org.
