Blinn men's basketball players read to Krause Elementary students
Buccaneers continue commitment to mentoring area youths The Blinn College men’s basketball team read to students at Krause Elementary Friday afternoon as part of its continuing commitment to community service. The event was just the latest example of Blinn athletes volunteering to serve as role models for local youths. The Buccaneer baseball team recently hosted its annual “Turn Back the Clock” game benefitting Adam’s Angels, a non-profit organization that aids families affected by childhood cancer, and all Blinn student athletes mentor local elementary school students as part of the Children Are Really Special program. “Our student athletes understand that they are role models for young students in this community,” said Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach Scott Schumacher. “They enjoy meeting the kids, but at the same time it is a responsibility that they take very seriously.” The Buccaneers recently qualified for the Region XIV Conference basketball tournament beginning March 5 at the University of Texas – Tyler.
