Natashia Morehead Receives 2003 Betty Jo Graber Award

The NJCAA wass proud to announce the selection of Natashia Morehead of Gulf Coast Community College, Fla., as the 2002-2003 NJCAA Betty Jo Graber Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Morehead, who finished her basketball career at the University of Florida, was a two-time NJCAA First Team All-American selection.  In addition, Morehead garnered the following prestigious awards:

* 2002 and 2003 Panhandle Conference Player of the Year
* 2002 1st Team Region VIII All-State
* 2002 Region VIII Tournament Most Valuable Player
* 2003 Region VIII Player of the Year
* 2002 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team
* 2003 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship Most Valuable Player
* 2002 and 2003 Kodak All-American
* 2002 and 2003 USA Basketball trials invitee

A 5'11" native of Panama City, Florida, Morehead averaged 21.7 points per game, 9.4 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game during her two years at Gulf Coast Community College.  She led the Lady Commodores to a perfect 28-0 season and there first ever NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship in 2003.  Along the way, Morehead set a single game national tournament record scoring 46 points in the 2003 championship game.
